All children develop at different rates, if you're concerned about your child's development you should always see your physician for an evaluation. Small deviations from the 'norm' are generally not something to worry about, though. Below is a list of some things 13 month-old toddlers may be doing, trying, or
mastering.
Using a few (2-5) words appropriatly. Words other than mom and dad such as Hi, Bye, Dog, Cat, etc will probably be emerging in your child's vocabulary around this time, and he/she will be using them appropriatley most of the time.
Supporting His/Her Weight. Most children can stand on their own by now, some may be taking wobbly steps, and still others may be walking.
Can Play a Simple Game That Requires Gross Motor Coordination. Games like peek-a-boo, patty-cake, high-five, etc.
Drinks from a sippy-cup. Bottles can be given up at 12 months so at this point your baby should be able to drink from a sippy-cup at and in between mealtimes.
Starting to communicate his/her needs. Your baby may not be able to tell you what he wants but soon he'll start being able to communicate with you using gestures, pointing, making some verbal cues, etc to help you meet his needs.
