Avoid the Guilt To Be a Good Mom

LaRenae by LaRenae Talking Back(October 2006) (rank 58th)

After reading the post by JenLemen entitled "Avoiding Burnout : 8 Surefire Ways to Get Your Energy Back" regarding inventive ways to rejuvenate yourself as a parent .... Oh how the guilt pressed down upon me ... I loved the advice that JenLemen gave regarding ways to pamper ourselves

as parents and taking a moment out of the day for ourselves ....  but how can we work to not feel guilty for giving ourselves a moment ? My advice : We can not be good parents if we are not healthy, happy and full of energy ! So, let's shed ourselves of guilt and take better care of ourselves .... If we parents are not happy and healthy, then our children will not be either .... Relax and enjoy and our babies will follow suit ...Avoid feeling guilty for taking good care of yourself because taking care of yourself makes you a better parent ...

Take care of number one
When we take care of number one (namely ourselves) we are better able to fulfill our roles as parent/ friend of our spouse/ lover/ sibling and daughter or son/ and last but not least colleague.
It pays off big time to take a few minutes to yourself each day.  It is hard, but once the recompense is realised it becomes easier - a worn out me is no fun for anyone.
Peace

Mom Guilt
Mom guilt is everywhere. It is very hard to not feel guilty even when you know you are trying to do the best for your family. Small children dont understand why parents work or do other necessary things. Thats why most parents try to make the most of each available minute and end up stressed out and stretched too thin. It takes a group effort sometimes to make everybody happy. We cant be superheroes all the time. LOL
