A few weeks ago I read an article written by Frontier that had a link to the Flylady site http://flylady.net/.
I am very domestically challenged so I had a look and liked what I saw. I signed up for the free daily emails. Things certainly improve around
here when I follow the Flylady principles. She breaks things down into routines and introduces them slowly. Baby steps as she calls them. She is also big on decluttering - something I badly need to learn but hey - babysteps. When I get a bit slack (I am 30 weeks pregnant) my husband reminds me to “do your Mrs Flytrap stuff” The site and the emails are free but she does have stuff she sells if you really want to buy stuff. She has lots of ideas and strategies for getting organised including a special page on planning for the holidays including Christmas.
The page is http://flylady.net/pages/holidaycruising1.asp and has ideas for
- clutter free gifts
- ideas on getting organized to make the holidays less stressful
- recipes
- and much more including the link for the Holiday control journal (a free workbook you can download to keep track of holiday stuff.
Flylady has just released her free downloadable
Holiday Control Journal (link from above webpage) for getting organized for Christmas and it is full of good ideas and strategies to help people get organized to enjoy Christmas. I recommend checking it out. Contents include
- Crisis cleaning your home for the holidays – ideas to make it manageable and less daunting and for keeping it clean
- Ideas for adapting Christmas Traditions to your family “do the holidays , don’t buy them”.
- Planning and shopping for your Christmas baking
- A chart for planning and shopping for (and wrapping) your Christmas presents A chart for organizing your travel plans
- Planning your decorations
The strategies generally involve breaking tasks down into manageable bits and doing a bit each day. The holiday control journal can be found at
