recycle

peachynowamum by peachynowamum Talking(October 2006) (rank 227th)

As parents we need to teach by example. Which is why I think it is realy important that we find small ways around the house to recycle! plus recycling is a great way to save money as well!!!

Here are a few things that can be recycled and re-used:

  1. Formula tins-  Decorate them and put a hole in the top for money ( if the kids are old enough you can get them to help you so its fun and your spending more quality time with them.  They are also great for soring rice and pasta and even flour (Just make sure you label them)
  2. Magazines- I cut pictures out and stick them in a scrapbook and I also write what each piture is (once again kids can help and it also helps them learn)
  3. Milk, cordial and soft drink bottles- I clean them out and use them as water jugs I also keep the spares in a cupboard ready for storm season
  4. I dont do this but a friend of mine did Egg cartons- She has covered the kids bedroom wall with them to make it sound proof so he can practice the drums without ennoying the neighbors or giving her a head ache. They are also great for storing beads (expecialy if you have differrent colors) or earings in.
  5. Paper rather than use a new piece of paper evry time cause I chucked the last one out I use the otherside I also save it for arts and craft or just making paper aeroplanes.
  6. Old clothing, tacky sheets ect- I wash them cut them up and make patch work quilts, pillows and cuhions ect.
  7. I am sure there is plenty more I can recycle I am just not looking hard enough

So like I said recycle and save money now as your kids are always watching and learn from you. Feel free to leave a few more examples for others to read as well. Thankyou

Recycle

Egg cartons - can make a treasure chest and put different textures in it. Someting soft, furry hard smooth. It makes learning  great fun.

Old jeans- make heavy quilts out of them, they are really warm and heavy.

A FEW THINGS FROM ME

EGG CARTONS - already mentioned but another use - painting - there is enough in a 6 pk carton for the primary colours and mixing!

NEWSPAPERS - more craft - try paper mache` with your kids - all we do is blow up a balloon . paste bits of newspaper onto it - let it dry.  Pop the balloon inside by stickin a pin through. then paint it!!

TOILET ROLLS AND PAPER TOWEL ROLES - for obvious reasons - craft of course - how bout the kids  make their own christmas bon bons!!

and again - there are heaps more - keep adding everyone!!! I would also love some new ideas!!! :)

Have a great day!
