Prams, strollers & running prams

Andrew by Andrew Walking(April 2006) (rank 500+)

My wife is a gear freak so once she fell pregnant the interest in kit turned from triathlon gear to prams. Carolyn conducted serious research in prams and she ended up purchasing 3 prams. Yes for one child all in the first 5 months of Mac's life!!!

One was

realitvely cheap and worked really well early due to the fact the car capsule clicks straight in to the pram reducing the chance of Mac waking up after falling asleep in the car. Great for shopping expeditions!!!

Now the next was specially imported from Canada, a Chariot top of the line. This pram is the ultimate for sportos. It is designed for serious runners and has the adaptability to become a child trailer behind a bike. It also has stroller wheels that are easy to click on or off and work well with these although not so well in confined spaces.

The last purchase again is certainly far from cheap although it is great value, the Bugaboo Frog. This pram has brillant functionality including a bassinet, connection and a stroller connection. Both are abled to be turned around i.e. to avoid sun or wind in Mac's face. The suspension and wheels are excellent.

For those who are concerned about over capitalising on prams perhaps you can direct the Purchasing Officer to EBay. We purchased the first and last pram through EBay and this reduced the hip pocket pain substantially.

I have a stryder which allows me to have Raiden laying down if he's asleep or sitting up right. The seat comes out and becomes a bassinet for small babies and can also be switched to face you or away from you. I find it better to steer than a 3 wheeler and a lot safer too.

The jogger stroller not only allows a mom or dad to get a solid workout, but also gives the baby an enjoyable ride and provides quality bonding time. Moreover, along with its suitability for jogging, today's jogger stroller is also well adapted for any kind of adventure, be it a hike in the woods or a shopping trip to the shopping mall.

However, there is a learning curve involved to running with a jogger stroller.

You need to find a jogger stroller that suits your size and running style. As with buying a bicycle, it’s important to find a comfortable fit. Experts suggest runners take several models on a short test-run before buying a jogger stroller.

To learn how to move most effectively pushing a jogger stroller, runners should first walk, then mix in bouts of jogging and finally run uninterrupted with an empty jogger stroller before taking a child out in it. When runners start working out with a jogger stroller, they lose the forward momentum generated by shoulder drive. To maintain a sense of pace, they have to incorporate quicker foot turnover.

I only use one www.strollersasap.com/jog_166846011_B001CTEOIC_Baby-Jogger-City-Classic-Single-Stroller-Black-Stone.html. This was recommended by friends and I found great reviews online. It's not the cheapest in the market; however, it's helped me so many times already it's worth the price tag. I never had to change strollers EVER.

I WENT CRAZY
I think I over did the pram things because it was like buying a car and the sales ladies weren't too helpful...

Likewise
We also went through 3 prams quite quickly... all 3 were useful for something in particular. We had the initial one which was was specific for the baby capsule, then another very small and light stroller and then a running pram! It seems as though this excessive spending on prams may not be all that uncommon!!! :)
