reading to children (all ages)

peachynowamum by peachynowamum Talking(October 2006) (rank 227th)

You might think I'm silly and that babies a week or 2 old are too young to understand but it is my belief that they are never too young!!!

Right from birth I have been reading to my daughter I would prop her up on a V shaped pillow

next to me and show her the pictures as well.

I do this because I want her to find the same joy in books that I have. I also want her to have a passion for the creative side of life.

It is also my belief that this will not only help her learn to read faster at an earlier age but help her mental developement in all areas as it requires an imagination to actualy get anything out of a book!

I think all kids of all ages need to either be read to or be able to read themselves

So why not open a book and spend some quality time reading to your child!

right on
I always try to put aside half an hour or an hour before my boys are off to bed just to snuggle up with them and read a good story, not only is it getting them to appreciate books but it gives me great time to just relax. Both boys love to listen to stories, when Zac wakes up a t 3 in the morning to pee he always says can you read me a story,  its great that he loves stories but not at 3 in the morning, i have to draw the line

Reading
i started reading to my daughter when she was a week old. My twins boys were two months old (it took me a little longer to get my act together with my boys). Every night, i read to each of my children individually and we have that special separate one-on-one time with Mommy.

reading is important
I think you never know what a child is learning at early ages, but reading is a sure way to make sure he/she is learning something. Good advice!

I also read  to my daughter from birth. I didn't actually read from books, but i did talk about things like what i ate while she was inside me, how many cousins etc she had and when she was about 6 months old, thats when i started to read books to her..

Reading of all ages...
I read all sorts of stuff. Not just pictures... I think at that age it is the tone of voice you use more then what you are showing them.. But I read every thing....  :)
