A little warm up tip for winter...

Jessgore by Jessgore Young Parent(October 2006) (rank 5th)

It’s Winter time again…

Have you ever jumped into bed and said “Wow that is cold!”. Grabbed as much as the blankets that you can and just lie there in wait to warm up….

One day my step daughter came to me and said

she was getting ready for bed and she was cold, so I told her to put some socks on..

The dryer had just finished drying her clothes so she took the socks from the dryer… And oh my how toasty…. She got into bed with warm socks on and did not actually have to wait to warm up…

She was telling me how wonderful it was so I did it myself, and yes it was, but I don’t normally like wearing socks to bed so I took it one step further and put my covers in the dryer… While I was getting ready for bed, brush the hair, the teeth, etc my Doona was getting nice and warm…   And I crawled into a nice warm bed… My son does not sleep with a blanket so it is not for him, but I am sure when he gets to sleeping with a blanket he is going to love this as well....

Stay warm for winter

Re: A little warm up tip for winter...
Works with PJ's as well, while your child is in the bath pop their pyjamas in for a few mins or near/on a heater then when they get out they are toasty and can get dried and dressed and warmly snuggled in bed before the cold gets them
Peace

Electric blankets

Those are the best inventions yet!! My daughter uses hers all the time in the winter!

Mind you I still sleep with socks on in the winter, but end up taking them off in the night

Why don't you just get an electric blanket, put it on pre-getting in and turn it off as you get in and the whole bed is toasty.  I put my P.J's under the doonah (duvey, quilt, what evr you like to call it) and they too are taosty prior to getting in and this past winter I discovered these bed socks in our supermarket knitted out of that feather wool that was popular for making scarves...Oh MY GOD are they the most comfortable decadent things to have ever graced my knobbly feet.....heaven.

Electric blankets

Actually come to think of it I have never seen one here... I could do that...  But as a kid I used to have the habit of waking up in the morning early and turn it on to go back to sleep and then leave it on during the day.....  OOPPPSSSS..

Aaahhh but you're a big girl now and you probably make your bed.  I switch mine back on on freezing mornings at about 5am as that's when I wake up with a frozen nose.  I then turn it off when I make the bed.  TaDah!!!!

You want me to post you one???

What does it mean to make the bed.. LOL    Hubby always gets out after me so I don't usually get around to making it until Francis goes down for a nap at 1pm, or if I have to leave for the day well it does not get made.. AHHHHHH

Oh well I'll just stick with the warming up of my blankets.. Thanks anyway chele.. I did like them as a kid though...

I can turn the heating up yes, but then the rest of the canadians in this house feel like they are in the bahama's... :)

We have to come to a comprimise...   Hubby comes home and he walks into the house as I have the heating up rather high when he is not home.. Then when he gets home I put on a sweeter...  ANd I like the warm blanket feeling.. :)

That's great, if you don't have to conserve energy.  We keep the temp. down a bit and just wear a thicker sweater and an extra pair of socks.   I think that it's important in this day and age to do our part in keeping energy usage down.

Yes it is true concerving energy is a good thing, but I have to tell you I so can't stand to freeze... It is rather painful for me... Why I live in Canada is really only because I love my husband.. The other three seasons here are wonderful, but winter time can be rather painful for me... I freeze easy...  And it is only for a minute or so, it does not take long to heat them up....
