An online baby shower? Yes!!

surfingmama by surfingmama Speaking(October 2006) (rank 500+)

So your baby is born and you’re thinking of organizing a baby shower. Have you considered those friends and relatives who are far, far away (across the country or globe) and there’s no way they can possibly make it to your baby shower? No fret. Nowadays, with the

Internet, everything is possible. Why not make plans for an online baby shower? Well, it turns out that there’s just a site called web baby shower dedicated to online baby showers and birth announcements! To quote web baby shower:

At the most basic level, an online baby shower should include a message board and photos. It can be as elaborate or simple as you want. It can include games and good wishes, stories and pregnancy updates. We are still working on online refreshments though!

While you can host an online baby shower at any website that provides message board service, Web Baby Shower is already designed to meet the specific needs of baby showers, pregnancy celebrations and birth announcements. In addition, Web Baby Shower is personally moderated by me so everyone can participate in a fun and safe online environment without having to have accounts, passwords, and so forth.

And why do you need an online baby shower? web baby shower shows you many reasons:

- Excellent when expecting parents are far from family and friends

- Super mood lifter for moms-to-be who have been restricted to bed-rest

- Great complement to a traditional baby shower

- Online shopping is becoming more and more popular

- Everyone likes babies and computers too!

- A “Digital Scrapbook” style print-out of the messages, Birthday BetsTM and photos makes a wonderful addition to a baby book

- When the baby is born you can transform the shower into an online birth announcement

Thank you for making this option available to us. It is turning out to be quite the story-maker among friends and family members, and my daughter is completely impressed with all we can put on the web page. Appreciate your efforts to make it all so user friendly (especially for someone like me who is electronically challenged!) and to give us so much control in how the page looks and what is included (especially the pix). Well done! ~Susan, Web Baby Shower host and expecting grandmother

So true
I would have loved to share these moments with my relatives overseas.  Even my nehew born recently - I would have loved to have had the option to be more involved even from this distance.  I think this is something that will catch on with 'international families'.
Peace
