Washing Hair

Anonymous Author (November 2006)
I know how tough it is to wash your child's hair sometimes, but what i have found easiest is to take a plastic doll in the bath with hair and wash their hair first, and tell them see how your doll didn't cry and carry on, now it's your turn and
see if you can be like your doll. Most of the time it works and eventually they will love getting their hair washed, as you say to them after about 5 days, you wash your doll's hair, and while theyre distracted doing that, you wash their hair.

My son can't stand his hair being washed...

Well by me anyway.. His dad is great with it.. I hate to bath Francis when it comes to washing his hair and I get jealous every time I sit and listen to them having so much fun in the bath tub.... The hubby blows in my sons face before he pours a bucket of water on his head.. ANd my son thinks this is just so funny.. Blowing in his face makes him close his eyes and hold his breath.. Maybe my timing is off when I do it... I just know that when it is time to wash the hair I call the hubby....

I really like someone's idea I read a few months back about a watering can...

Washing Hair...
Both of our daughters are extremely strong willed, not at all followers. Pretty much just because it has been done to someone or something they know and love doesn't mean it's going to be done to them, not if they've decided against it. For both of them we've found that it has always been about the water in their faces so we have them "look to the ceiling". Simply put, with them facing away from us we have them look at the ceiling above the tub, by doing so their faces naturally tilt upwards. I cup one hand around their hairline next to their forehead and with the other pour water over their hair to wet it and then once it's been shampooed rinse it in the same manner. It makes hairwashing a breeze, they know no water will be poured over their faces so they have nothing to fight.

You haven't come across my son. That doesn't work for him either, yet give him a pool or a beach and he will junp in head first.

Unfortunately
that method doesn't always work. My son is very stubborn, or moody I am not sure which. He is now three and stiil he screams the house down when he has his hair washed. The only part he likes is seeing himself in the mirror with all the bubbles on his head. Believe me I have tried EVERYTHING, I have just learnt to pretty much ignore him now, hopefully he will see that him screaming, doesn't change anything. Have you got any more suggestions!

My son freaks out, so I now let him do it himself, I rinse it off and he holds a face cloth over his eyes, I havn't had a problem since
