How to save on your kids toys

Rachall by Rachall Talking(November 2006) (rank 92nd)
I have found that I can save on Josh's toys by going to my local toy library and borrowing toys that Josh shows an interest in and seeing how long that last. If it lasts a couple of months and he is really into it then I will consider buying it
for him and his future brothers and/or sisters.

If you are planning only on or two children it might only be worthwhile borrowing them as it costs you $25 registration max for the year and then between $1 and $3 per toy depending on the size. eg puzzles and costumes are $1, babies toys are $2, and bikes and other big toys are $3. Just work out the savings you can make if you just borrowed toys for your child/ren rather than buying them and then having them grow out of or get bored with quickly.

Be aware though that they do have a limit as to how many toys are borrowed per child and for how long, but it is still worthwhile as children also need a change of toys every once in a while.

Toy library

They are great, ours is in our council library and they can sit and play with them for a while to see what they like......so much cheaper than buying them a new toy and have only play with it for a few days.......

Great advice....

Me wanna toy library
They dont have one that I am aware of in my area - I would have loved that.  I remember looking into it at some point because my mum suggested it.  Maybe I should set one up - that would give me a regular hobby with interaction with people if not an income!
Peace

For those from Ontario
For the canadians who live in ontario, they have toy libraries in the ontario early years centres. You can sign out toys there. Our early years has alot of toys that you can sign out and we live in a small town.

Wow
What a neat idea. I can't say I've heard of a toy library either. Great way to see if a toy will indeed be a hit with your child!

Check out your local area for Toy Libraries as well. Set up separately to real libraries -

Sounds like a good idea, but..

That sounds like a good idea.. But I don't think that it's every where.. Where I live, I don't think I ever heard about a place like this. If I did, I am sure that I would defiently go there and take a look!!

I know that they are 2 places to where you can get cheap kids/baby/toddler toys.. And that is gently used stores.

Thanks for the tip also, good advice!!
