Toilet Training Young

Anonymous Author (November 2006)

This might not work for some people.

At 18 months you could start to encourage your child to use the potty with a nappy on at all times.

At two years you could provide a potty with training pants on and at night a nappy.

At 2

and a half years you could use the proper toilet with a step and a toilet seat thing. And at night training pants and potty.

At three years your child should be properly toilet-trained.

Hope this works.

P.S.It does not matter if your child has accidents.

relax the whole way through.if the child has too much pressure you won't get your child toilet trained.

Take your time
I started my kids from the time they could walk. The potty was almost part of the furniture. Daughter was trained by 18 mnths, and son at 26mnths. I think that doing toilet traing over a long period of time is less stressful on both child and parent. When they are so young, the pressure to get them trained in a week or so just doesn't exist.

doesn't
if it doesn't work put off the training for about 1-3 months or until he/she starts to want to use the potty.

Potty...

Haha you will probably all laugh at me!!! lol

I know when my 3 month old is pooing ( he goes all red in the face and does the whole grunting thing).  So I bought him a potty so he gets used to the feeling of it.  He hasn't pooed in it yet, as he sometimes poos at inappropriate moments, like when we are out, but hopefully the time will come.  But like you guys said, I'm not pushing it.  If he gets upset at all, he comes straight off...

Am I being silly?? lol

Potty...
they did a study about 6 week old babies being potty trained so you aren't crazy.  Although I'm guess you would be the one being trained, not the baby...

Jacob is 18 months and we have him sitting on the potty on weekends asi work full time, i let him run around without his nappy on and put him in big boy jocks or trining pants. He thinks he is soo big and loves it. there is no pressure if he doesn't want to use the potty thats fine but it is there if he wants it

potty training

This may work for others, thanks for sharing.

My son is 20 months old and about a couple of months ago, he started showing signs of readiness for potty training. He would grab his diaper after he has pooped. So I bought him a potty chair. But lately, he's forgotten about it. So I have now put away the potty chair. I will take out again when he shows me he's ready. Personally, it's best not to force the issue and end up frustrated.

potty training
Ethan is the same age as Matthew and LOVES to go potty if dad asks him.  Can't be bothered with me.

That's awesome! When did he start?

I've sat Matthew down on the potty chair at the same time for a couple of days and hit the jackpot once, but just once. And once he sat there for about 10 minutes and decided to go after he had his diaper on. But oh well, he's not ready at this point I guess.
