Porn, what do you do when you find out your 13 y.o. has been looking it up at a mates house?

klaushelpenstein by klaushelpenstein Speaking(November 2006) (rank 500+)

I noticed this question by one of minties members

My son was visiting at his friend's house and his friends parents attending a wedding during the day (12pm - 3pm), so they left a 15 & 13 y.o home, one would think "no Problem", what can they get

up to?  Computer is passworded, mature kids, whats a couple of hours?  Well, the older child had figured out Dad's password, so they thougth it would be cool to look up some porn.  We are not talking soft porn either, it was 3 women, 1 man, no holes barred, girl on girl porn.  To top it off he recorded it on his mobile phone and showed it to some mates along with his 10 year old brother!!!!!  Needless to say, his phone has been confiscated and he is banned from the internet for 2 months (should be life!!!) Anyhow, I'm not sure on the best way to discuss with him or for that matter, his younger brother.  This sort of graphical porn was simply not around when we were young, maybe your brother might find a Penthouseor Playboy mag. but those pictures weren't moving!!

Every generation has their own quirks, and fantasies, maybe when you where young it was only Playboy and Penthouse mags, and your parents where probably outraged if they found out that you where reading them, however now times have changed Porn is  part of everyday life, banning a kid at that age from doing anything is virtually useless, banned on the internet at home, means nothing, wherever he goes, home, school, library friends, just about anywhere he will be able to access porn in one way or another, all you are probably doing is making him more determined to go and find another way to access it, that said you would virtually have to ban him from everything, such as watching Music videos for instance, a lot of them border on porn, watching adds, sex is used in every aspect of our lives these days to sell items, reading bill boards, or many of the favorite TV shows, stop him from going to the beach or swimming pooI, I mean what's a near nude model got to do with selling a car or motorbike or anything else for that matter, or how much is left to imagination with some of the skimpy bikinis that are being worn on the beach, a lot of that is much worse than what you ever saw in playboy and penthouse, turn on late night tv and watch the virtual legal porn being offered to download onto phones, reality is it's all about making money, sex is everywhere you go and at 13 and 15 these kids probably know more about sex, than you did at 25. I certainly know that my kids and the kids I fostered knew more at that age, as long as they know about the birds and the bees, the best you can do is accept that there is no way you can stop  a teen at their age with raging hormones from seeeking out what is freely available everywhere, and all you are doing by banning him is make him lie, discuss nudity explain the beauty of the human form and that porn such as that is not what most people do, become his friend not his enemy, in the end my kids simply showed me if there was something they saw on the internet and soon enough they where just as disgusted as i was, but as to banning sex and porn you simply have no hope as I said it's all about making money, if our politicians where so outraged about it all maybe they would stop being able to advertise porn on late night tv cancel all the 1900 numbers that can be accessed legally and much more but then they would have to find another way to get the income from taxes that they get from all the models service providers etc wouldn't they.................................

totaly agree

I know it is a harsh reality and quite disgusting but truth is we cant stop them from looking at porn

and as teenagers going through puberty they are more prone to this type of behaviour

so rather than lose your cool yes just talk with your kids like klaushelpenstein said
