Hot water

Marlena by Marlena Young Parent(November 2006) (rank 12th)
So I was cleaning the tub this morning and i had the hot water running into the tub because cold water doesn't clean, we all know that.  My son was in the room playing (so I thought).  All of a sudden at the corner of my eye I look over
and I see my son placing his hand under the tap.  Lucky for us I have the water thermastate on low so it doesn't get really hot but hot enough.  When he put his hand under the water he took it out right away and said " Mommy hot".  My advice to you is watch out at all times with the hot water that comes from taps.  We are always careful with there bath water and probably dotn pat to much attention to the tap when cleaning or even are moping buckets.  Just thought I would pass it on.

hot water
i have taught my boys from as early as possible about hot water, but you can never be too careful, like you said about the mop bucket i had a close call with Jacob trying to put his hand in the mop bucket, so now i put the hot water in a bucket in the Laundry sink so it is up out of the way but i can still take it with me if needed.

They are so quick!
Ethan is so fast that we have to keep the bathroom door locked.  He has just figured out how to turn the water on himself and tries to take a bath on his own.  We find it's better to just be sure that he can't even get into the bathroom at all.  I'm glad everything worked out with your baby.

maybe the best thing was that your thermostat wasn't set too high
so glad your baby is okay!

water safety

Water safety is very important as children can drown in only inches of water. This is one thing that we should all be vigilant about.

Great idea to have lowered the water temperature. This is the best way to prevent burns. We can still enjoy hot showers and yet not have to worry about scalding little hands. Also, always close bathroom doors, especially if the water is running. In my house, we've gotten to the habit of closing all doors, especially the bathrooms. Door knob covers are also a must to make it even harder for little hand to open the doors.

water safety
When we put the kids to bath or shower, better to check the water first. Don't let they get it before we knew the how hot/cold the water is. Also, everytime we put hot water on the tap, we always say (if the kids around) 'Hot water is on, becareful. Don't touch it'. when we mop the floor, better to let the kids play in their bedroom or somewhere that has carpet on and tell them 'I'm mopping the floor, it's slippery, becareful.'
So, reminder and keep watching on them is good.

Timely reminder

It is good to have these timely reminders.

I wish I had them all every day, because most of the things i do wrong are just by turning my back for two seconds and not checking whatever is safe and her location is far from it.  Ah well, we live and learn.
