There is a way to check your spelling in Minti!

MumKim by MumKim Talking Back(November 2006) (rank 23rd)

There is a way to check your spelling in Minti!

Some people are good at spelling and some of us aren’t. Some people care about correct spelling and some people don't (individual choice!). If you are one that does then please read on

Yesterday after 29 hours of not being able to Minti  because of some kind of pop up blocker or active x controller program I loaded Mozzilla Firefox version 2 to use as my browser instead of Internet Explorer (Thank you Clay for recommending it).

As well as being able to Minti again  I discovered that Firefox underlines misspelled words in red. It does not give the correct spelling so I need to either reach for my dictionary or open the program 'Word'  and type the word in there to use that spell checker. I find it also picks up a lot of my typos (I make quite a few).

Apparently previous versions of Firefox do not do the red line spelling thing so if you are using Firefox and want the spelling check you may want to download the most recent version.

To check out Mozzilla Firefox click the link or try this address http://www.mozzilla.pl/

Yes, my spelling was awesome when I was a kid - unfortunately it didn't progress greatly, and is still the same.  I do exactly what you do!  (Now I bet that's not a surprise at all).

Sometimes the mistakes make me chuckle, until I see my own. I have been having problems with minti lately so I think I will give this a go. Thanks Kim.

Glad to hear it. I had difficulty loading photos too. Only way I could do it was from the scanner. I may try again with Firefox and see if it is better.

fire fox spell checker
After downloading the new version yesterday (thanks) I also discovered Firefox was picking up all the non American spelling - so I went looking for other dictionaries...
And there is!
In Firefox tool top bar goto tools/options/advanced where you can change your language preferences ... here you can download more, or select dictionaries from a drop down list... I chose English/AU as my new dictionary preference.
I also notice Firefox dictionary is sensitive to capitalization. for example: when I type firefox it has a red line under it, but when I type Firefox there is no red line.

Firefox is real good.  My dad works in computing and recommends it as well as using it himself.  I am still in IE.  Gonna stick here for a whlie as things have been a little weird lately, but glad you found a way to spell-check.  I am certainly interested in that for the near future!  YAY!

I have had to switch. Something has gone wrong with Internet Explorer on my computer and it won't let me do anything other than read Minti. No commenting, mintimail, voting etc. Very frustrating for a Minti addict.
I have had Clay, Yumyum (another minti adminstrator), my brother Ritchie and my husband all make suggestions on how to fix the problem but with no luck.
Thank goodness for Mozzilla Firefox.

Firefox is more secure as alot of viruses and intruder software is set up to corrupt Microsoft programs specifically... so, firefox being non Microsoft and free to have and update - it is so easy to be up to date and safer... but it also have a Internet Explorer function, as some web pages can only be viewed properly in IE, so you can view these pages in Firefox on an IE tab too!
