Get A Playgym!

singlemum23 by singlemum23 Talking Back(November 2006) (rank 91st)

HAHAHAHA!!

This advice comes from a stuggling singlemum who only has two hands - one for each kid!

-ceramic tiles through-out the house

- with a little baby who is too eager to start walking

- keeps falling and hurting herself

-

amongst getting into everything and causing chaos everywhere she goes!

I bought a "jolly" play gym / barracade / cage / jail - no get out of jail free card here - in she goes and never comes out! LOL

So instead of chasing baby all up and everywhere - going crazy - risk bubba getting hurt

- I suggest getting a play gym - there is enough room to still make the same progress .ie walking! as they would in the openess of your living area!

Also a big safety pre-caution to get something like this so little hands dont pick up any small toys left around by the older sibling! Be honest - It happens - no matter how organised you are - it can happen! It just takes one time for bubba to find something - insert into mouth - choke!

Since I am a single mum - before the jolly playgym - my life wasnt jolly at all - it was absolutely hectic - had to wait for the baby to sleep before showering - now since having the jolly jail - i am free-er to enjoy my home time more and rest assured knowing that my beautiful bubba is satisfyingly safe!

Note- Check out ebay for a cheap one - or I got my "jolly" jail from toys r us on sale for just $70!

All the best my fellow minti friends!!! :)

Playgym
I used to have one. My reason to have it before, cause we were living at my mother-in law's house for couple months and she had lots of breakable stuff, to avoid any danger or anything I used to let my son who was 9 months that time to play in the playgym, while I did some cooking or cleaning. Great thing to have.

The reason I wouldnt use the cot ...
I just think the cot is just for sleeping - I wouldnt want to confuse her and suggest that she play in there. I want her to just associate her bed with sleeping. Just my opinion.  Thanks for your thoughts!

The reason I wouldnt use the cot ...
You are right about that, but I like to think of the bed as a place to relax. My kids have always had a couple of books and a couple of toys in their cot/beds. When my son went through periods of restless nights, he would entertain himself for a while before putting himself back to sleep. It allowed me to stay in bed. Both kids will now take themselves off to their beds for quiet time.

Keeping them safe
You have brought up a great point that the most important thing is to keep the baby safe.  If you have a safe place for them to play, you are able to do all the things you need to do as well.

Yeah, it's pretty hard sometimes bringing up kids, especially if you have got 2 or more.

not sure
I understand that it must be hard for you to get things done sometimes, even simple stuff like have a shower. That is probably the only time I can think of where I would use one. I know that on occasion, I used to put my kids in the cot so that I could get some cleaning done or just wash my hair.
