Wetting

wiccanmum by wiccanmum Walking(November 2006) (rank 500+)

my 8 year old wets her pants at night and during the day.i have gone to the doctors, gone to therapist and used products.any suggestions?

I have 3 children 2 of whom still wet the bed, i was at my wits end with this and went to

a enurecis clinic ( may have spelt that wrong) they told me to try all sorts alarms on the nightwear, medicines, waking them up at night and taking them to the tiolet, star charts you name it i tried it, but nothing worked, then there as a nasal spay that has been mentioned before to you called desmopressin some thing along them lines any way and it really does work you can use this on a child who is 7 yrs or older and they just need one spray in each nostral every night but this can only be used for a short length of time as it does some thing to send certain signals to the brain so the child doesnt wet.

its worth talking to your GP  about this.

good luck

Re: Wetting

My son is 5 and still in night nappies.  He was horrible to toilet train and shows absolutely no interest in night training. I'm hoping that when my second is night trained he might decide that as he's old he should be as well.

I am however loath to use medications until absolutely necessary..  Thanks for the advice though.

Re: Wetting
i wish they had something like that for almost-5 yr olds. My eldest was real good in potty training but for the last few months i have been going through a lot of trouble with her wetting her pants during the day. I've even had to go back to putting her in pull ups at night. She goes to kindy and every day she comes home with her wet pants ina bag where she ahs had an accident. I have noticed that when she is playing she is so busy trying to stop her sister from taking her toys that she doesnt go to the toilet and just does it in her pants. I have tried explaining to her that the other kids at kindy will tease her and that if she needs to go to the toilet, she must get up and go and then go back to playing after she has been. It is getting very frustrating.

Have you tried getting her the underwear that you can use for older children who wet themselves its simular to what toddlers where when potty training but not as bulky and do look like proper underwear i think that you can get these from boots or have a look on line and see what is available
