Aromatherapy for kids.

lexiw by lexiw Young Parent(November 2006) (rank 15th)

I have gotten some great ideas for natural therapies for your children from an excellent authour.

For children who need to slow down

        1 drop of Cedarwood oil

        1 drop of Sandlewood oil

     2 drops of Vetiver

        2 drops of Bergamot

       4 drops of Patchouli

       50ml of a base oil

This is to be massaged onto your childs feet or without the base oil in a oil vaporiser.

    For cuts and scratches

   Wash area thoroughly and put

  1 drop of Lavender and

1 drop of tea tree on to a sterile dressing .

          Nappy Rash

    2 drops of Chamomile

    2 drops of Lavender

    1 drop of Tea Tree

     50 ml of base oil

I think aromatherapies are an excellent way to fix so many things that are usually treated with chemicals and drugs. I really dislike having to take my child to a doctor who only wants to pump them full of antibiotics that generally don't work that well most of the time.Don't get me wrong sometimes there is nothing else that will fix an ailment other than a prescribed medication and doctors are trained professionals who do know what they are doing . I just think if you can do it naturally why not.?

I use tea tree oil for everything. I love it. (smells good to).
I always buy the lavender bath stuff for the kids and bath them before bed and they calm right down and go off to sleep.

Good ideas, there's not much out there for kids, just heaps of stuff for adults... and I question the value of some of the things out there for adults, but this sounds good.

Aromatherapy..
I have often use different aromatherapy techniques with my kids... a good old oil burner was one of my best tools! i would put it in the kitchen with different mixture or sometimes just eucalyptus in winter seemed to help with snuffles etc...also some lavendar in a burner or vaporizer around 6pm for wind down time, the smell would waft through the house and my kids sleep like bears! A lot of oils i wouldnt use on there skin until they were a little older though but would buy pre packaged formulates for little ones...I grow aloe vera and use when needed,  The main oils i keep handy are Lavendar, Tea Tree, Grapefruit ,Frankincense and peppermint, though every now and then may pick up a different one (cant help myself!) **Great Topic!**

Aromatherapy..
Just wondering if you knew about the wonderful electric oil burners that are out now. No water needed and they don't burn.

good topic
i don't know much about aromatherapy, but i really like the idea of treating things holistically or naturally instead of using drugs.
