coughing

madchanny by madchanny Talking Back(November 2006) (rank 33rd)

Koen is a constant cougher, he also likes to fake cough alot,  i took him to see a doctor and he said he had a chest infection and it should go within two weeks using anti biotics, five weeks passed and i went back there, Koen still had the exact same cough. The doctor told me that it was a part of his development and i shouldn't worry about it i asked if there was any chance Koen had asthma and the doctor told me that even though it runs in the family he cant do anything about it until he is a bit older. so i left it for a while longer, mind you, this was not helping because the doctors wouldn't give him his injections if he has a cough.

In the end, i changed doctors to get a second opinion, and she also said that she couldnt determine if it was asthma or not, but she prescribed koen 'ventolin' in syrup form, this worked really well, i am pretty sure this is only a prescripsion medicine so see a doctor and ask about it first. And when your child is sick, it doesn't hurt to see another doctor for a second opinion, because if i didn't Koen would have been coughing for a much longer time.

asthma
I was telling the doctors from the time that Jaidan was 9 months old that he had asthma but apparently he was too young to diagnosed. So i had to self medicate till he turned 1 1/2 and they decided to diagnose him FINALLY after being to the hospital a few times. Always trust ya gut !!

Second Opinion
If you disagree with any medical opinion ever it is best to get it checked again.  Doctors and Nurses are only human at the end of the day and for whatever reason may miss something.  Other times we just need to rest to get something out of our systems.
Peace
