ROADTEST - V-Tech baby laptop

madchanny by madchanny Talking Back(November 2006) (rank 41st)

PRICE: around $60

AGE GROUP: it says 12 months to 2-3 years but my son loved it at a younger age

takes 3 AA batteries

Koen has had this laptop since he was 6 months old, his Nanna (my mother) bought it for him for christmas last

year, and it has been one of his favourite toys ever since.

This has a few features on it that baby will find very ammusing,

  1. the little cat and dog move from sise to side and when baby touches them, they make their animal noises
  2. the flashing lights and spinning disc inside keep baby occupied and alert
  3. the little working microphone which you can pull upright, baby can laugh at hearing his/her own voice
  4. the mirror is cute too, my son has only just started pulling faces at himself, then having laughing fits, he thinks its sooo funny!
  5. other little nic-nacs and gadgets, there are little coloured balls in where the speaker is and they move around then it makes noises. Circle, Triangle and Square buttons which are also coloured red, yello and blue so when baby presses them, it tells baby for example "red circle". There are also 3 sliders on the right which count to three when baby slides the desired number up and down.

The only down side to this toy, for Australians and English eg. alike, is that it speaks in an american accent, but over all:

 FIVE THUMBS UP!

This toy has gone through hell and back it has been dropped and thrown on hard floors and it still works! goes to show how durable it is.
