Cheerios - the greatest invention ever!

pfallerj by pfallerj Proud Parent(November 2006) (rank 100th)

Today's first time parenting tip - Starting your baby on cheerios for snacks and cereals is a choice you can't go wrong with

They're whole grain. They're easily picked up. They get soft quickly. Babies like the taste. And they're easy to pack along and take anywhere for a

snack.

Cheerios may very well be the best invention for eight month olds, ever.

My wife and I need to get ready in the morning? Set him up in eyesight, give him some of those O's and he's good to go?

Fussy on the El? Nothing puts him in a good mood like picking up his own Cheerios as he watches the buildings go by.

Need something nutritious for breakfast when he just doesn't want that mashed up single grain cereal? Cheerios it is.

We could all do better by eating a bowl.

cheerios the greatest invention ever

Sorry I disagree with you... What about the salt and fat content of them... my son is 5 and only has them if he goes to parties.  I do admit thought he has always loved fruit whether it be slightly steamed or fresh... and loves fruit for all his snacks and breakfast with his cereal... apple slightly steamed and cut in chunks might be a healthier alternative.  Please don't think I am putting you down.. Its just a thought...

Good idea.. I was asking about this a few weeks ago.
Now I got a question, my daughter don't have any teeth and is 9 months old. Is she able to have any Cheerio's? Or should I wait til she has some teeth to be able to chew on them?

My son has one tooth and I'm pretty sure he doesn't use it to chew Cheerios. They break apart easily by gumming them. Of course, he seemed to be a natural at chewing - I imagine some babies might want to swallow the whole thing.

We also started him off by breaking them in half and letting him have a go.

Thank you very much. I will try that when I buy some cheerios.. I'm a honey nut cheerio fan myself and I know she can't have it until she's at least 2 I think because of the honey and that it could cause botulism.
