fussy eater

rosalinda by rosalinda Speaking(November 2006) (rank 190th)

hi everyone. i just want to ask if anyone knows of ways to get my son to eat fruit and veg?  Kobe is 22mths old and he has completely gone off them and was just after some ways to try get him to eat them again.

Hi

there.

Its best not to buy into a toddler's food fads... Do you mind me asking what he is eating? Because if its some form of junk food you have your answer right there. Going on taste alone (rather than common sense which he hasn't yet had time to develop); given a choice, we would all eat junk food all day every day. Just provide him with healthy options & he will eat it if he needs it. Its quite common for toddlers to 'go off' certain foods. This is because their bodily needs vary so much. They won't starve themselves; even if they don't eat anything for a day or 2 at a stretch. If you allow yourself to get stressed about it however, they will sense it & it will become a battle since toddlers are exploring ways to impact on (have power over) their environment. If you don't care one way or the other; they won't either.

fussy eater

Well hi there, my kids were fussy eaters (just like me). What I did was, grated some vegies into family meals, which you can't see..........so they eat it and it tastes better too. Even grate onions or put them in the blender/hand held and make it small and add.  See how that goes.   My eldest daughter didn't like onions, but she just found out recently that she's been eating onions for 22yrs. She was in shock, now she grates it too as she cooks her own meals.
