Getting baby to eat savoury foods when weaning.

kitten by kitten Speaking(November 2006) (rank 500+)

When its weaning it can be hard to get your little one to eat the savoury foods especially if they have been eating fruits and yogerts previously.

A good tip i picked up was to put the savoury food at the back of the spoon and just on the

tip something sweet this means that baby will taste the sweet food first and be less likely to spit it out and then continue to eat the savoury food. I know this worked with my little one, he was fine at first with his vegetables but once he started he eating sweet foods started fussing. This technique seemed to work wonders and now he eats his vegetables on their own with no problems.

Hope this can be of some help

Trying new foods
It's also good to just keep trying the new foods.  Just because they aren't as interesting the first few times doesn't mean they won't try them eventually and like them.  You often have to present a food up to 15 times before a baby will eat it.  Sometimes it just takes a little extra patience.

I have even employed this trick on days when E is just not hungry for something or needs extra help to finish the mel for whatever reason.  It is great seeing a clean plate at the end and knowing that she is fed and full.
Peace
