looking into the future for our children

gr8est by gr8est Talking Back(November 2006) (rank 40th)

With prices for things skyrocketing and looking like it's not going to stop we should all consider taking good care of all our baby stuff like furniture, clothes and maybe toys that are in good condition after your child has grown out of them so when our children are having

children of their own no matter how far down the track that might be we can help lift the pressure of finacial burden by giving them a head start with what we have kept for them.  At least if we do that we know that we've done the best we can by our kids for the future.  We can also start a bank account for our even if we could'nt afford much because in the long run of things it all helps out when ther'ye older.

STEP  1 Take good care of your baby furniture, clothes and toys.

STEP 2 Once your baby no longer needs items find a safe storage space out of harms way.

STEP 3 Open bank account for your child and save only what you can afford at the time it all helps when there older.

good thinking
It is a great idea to keep things for your second child. I know I did and now my second daughter has all the clothes she needs. It also helps to have a circle of friends who have children to pass things down to and/or receive things from. Hand-me-downs are big around my house! I kept everything else as well...her crib, changing pads, toys, shoes. It really has saved us a bundle!

This is a great idea, so many good items turn up in landfills each year including old toys with lots of history I have kept all my baby clothes toys linnen and furniture etc.. for my next child and now will keep them for my grand babies.

why I thought this would be good as advice

My reasoning for doing an article of advice on this topic was inspired by my mother in law who might I add i don't get along with at the best of time,  she saved all the stuff from when my wife was a baby so when we had our first child we didn't need to buy much and there for didn't have to touch the money the goverment had given us for it which allowed us to open a term deposit of 5 grand for our child and we are allowing to keep gaining yearly intrest so if he is smart enough to go to college and wants to he will have a little bit there so even though we don't get along I must give acknowledgement on that and say she is a very wise and smart lady.  So I am giving her the credit that she deserves on this matter.

My barbies have been around
My mother kept some special toys from when I was a kid for me I also kept my barbies and gave them to michaela who handed them to Tiana who handed them to shy and nikita. I also used alot of my cot linen and things but alas by the time i was finished with them they were not really any good any more but that is a great idea definately. I paid a fair bit for my cot so I should keep it for my kids.

Toys
Some of my son's favorite toys when he goes to Grandma's house are ones that I played with as a child as well.  I think it is an integral part of creating traditions and teaching your children to take care of their belongings as well as conserving and making the most of what we have.

Child Trust Fund
In the UK there is now this thing called a Child Trust Fund that all newborns are presented with and it is an account held for them that people can pay money into and the govt. gives a sum every few years also so taht when the child leaves school there is something there for them to help with further education, first home, gap year, business opportunity whatever they choose to do with their lives.  It is a great idea and one that I would encourage anyone to do.  Even if you cannot add into it frequently.   It is there for those times when you are flusher and able to do you child a favour.
Peace
