When growing pains aren't growing pains

zj by zj Talking Back(December 2006) (rank 83rd)
A lot of children complain about pains in their arms, legs etc, and this can be what is called growing pains.  But I would like to say to all parents out there, to get things checked out by a professional.  Visit a chiropractor, or doctor depending on the issue concerned.
When I was a child I always complained about pains in my hip.  My mum thought I was trying to get out of going to school (as most parents probably would), but I wasn't.  It wasn't until I finished school and started working, that I went and got it checked out.  This is probably after 10 or more years of suffering.  X-rays showed that my pelvic bone was twisted out of alignment.  After a few visits to the chiropractor, my legs became even, I was walking without a limp, and the pains ceased.  I have monthly check ups with the chiropractor - but I have not had the pain in my hip since.  If it had been fixed when I was a child, the monthly visits now, may not have been an issue.  Listen to your children, and get things checked out.  It may save a lot of future problems for your child.

growing pain

My 10 year old was saying to me that he had pains in his hip. The next day he had a fun run to do and i thought that he was trying to get out of it. well he wasn't i took him to the doctors the next day and they rushed him to hospital. the next day he was in surgery getting 3 table spoons of fluid of his hip. I felt like a bitch for making him do the fun run. now when ever my kid say that they hurt in a joint for more that 1 or 2 days i take the to the doctors. thank god no more have had anything like that since.
