My daughter is younger (just 14 months), but when she starts screaming, we tell her that screaming is not pleasant for us and we tell her to tell us what she wants (she's very verbal and communicates well, we're not torturing her). When she uses words, we tell her how
much we enjoy that she can ask for what she wants and do our best to do what she wants (obviously, only if it's reasonable). When she screams we tell her that we don't understand what she wants (even if we do). I make it a point never to give positive reinforcement for screaming. I hope that being consistent will make her stop.
Good luck!
