How am I ever going to get dinner made?

Kristen by Kristen Young Parent(December 2006) (rank 167th)
Activities for little busy hands (shared by my ever brilliant sister Pache)  These might get you through the witching hour or at least prepare dinner every once in a while.

  • Band-aid baby- Buy dollar store band-aids and set up your own dolly doctor office.  Beanie
babies and other stuffed animals make for great veterinary play too. Little hands love to peel and stick.  It's also great for fine motor skill development.

  • Office extravaganza- Post-it, page markers that pop, anything that can be pulled apart over and over again will be intoxicating to your little ones. A couple of bucks on office supplies is worth the break you get from this project.

  • Clip it! - All you need are clothes pin and a bucket (or bowl)- let your toddler working on clipping things together. if clothes pins are too hard, there are always chip clips. Buy them in different colors and let your child sort them out by color.

  • Golf tee fun!- A block of styrofoam, golf tees and a plastic toy hammer equal hours of fun. This is a safe alternative for your handy toddler and is sure to be a hit!

Just a few ideas to help you get some extra time to get the things done.  Hope it helps.

Cutting carrots
I used to keep some toys in the kitchen. Fridge magnets, washable crayons. But somehow, few times, my son who's 3 that time, like to help and wanted to do cooking too, so I gave him a knife (kids friendly one) and a carrot/zuchini and plastic chopping board, and let him cut them on the floor. He loved it. (Maybe we could do it with playdough for little hand.) At the moment, sometime he liked to help me cutting the garlics.

Cutting carrots
Great idea!  I had fridge magnets but we put them all away when we put our house on the market to sell.  I'm thinking now that we need to bring them back out.  What kind of person wouldn't buy a house because of fridge magnets?  LOL

Well done

it doesn't take much to occupy these little minds but as you said if you are trying to prepare dinner etc you sometime become flustered and don't think of the simple things LOL

Thanks
