Car seat safety

Marlena by Marlena Young Parent(December 2006) (rank 21st)

You kow after you have a baby and you have to bring that baby home you try and figure out where you want to put the car seat.  (I know I did).  You think well maybe I will put it behind teh passenger side so I can see baby

when I am driving or maybe you aren't the driver often so I will put them behind the drivers side.  Well with my boyfriend mad the the choice for me, the middle.  It makes it hard for me to put my guy in and out now that he is bigger but it is the safest place for a child.  If you get hit my a car on either side and your baby is next to the window it could be worse then if they were in the middle.  So the next time you go for a drive thik about moving hte car seat to the middle if you can.

Re: Car seat safety

Great advice when we had mac it had recently been in the news or some one being killed as something had come through the windscreen so placed him to the side thats ok but side impact how do you kbow hes in the middle now and its more convenient for other passengers seems to be more rm we decided to move him after buying a 4 x 4 apparently the safest family vehicle so it made sence really ....I do agree and see you point but what happens we 2,3,4 kids someone gotta sit at sides...scary

hugs jo xxx

car seats
my first 2 children where in the middle, my third in on the passengers side as it was the easiest with three children. Baby on passenger, 2.5year old in the middle and 5 yo on the drivers side

car seat

my daughter's car seat is in the middle for the same reason as yours. If i ever had a car accident, and got hit on the side, my child will not be as badly injured if she was on one of the sides. if i was hit on from the front or back, there's the risk of her going thru the windshield, but the straps are tight enough to hold them in.

i totally agree with you in this article

i found the middle seat convenient
easy to reach right back to soothe, plus the baby was easy to see in the rearview mirror.
important safety tip!

Interesting point
We dont have a car, so it was never an issue for me, but in my dads van she goes in the middle, and in mums car she goes behind the driver seat (it is a small car) - the disadvantage of this is that her feet kick into the drivers back when she gets bored - not intentional kicking, just swinging her legs.  I have rarely seen a parent put their child in the centre and when we did it in the van it was just natural.  Thank you for this.
Peace
