Teething Trouble

bleshu by bleshu Talking Back(December 2006) (rank 84th)

My 5month old has just started teething.  We have had 2days straight with nothing but a constant sook and kissy noises.  It has been driving me absolutely burko.  His sooking is like a non stop jack hammer in my head.  Something had to be done...

I tried

bongella............... NOTHING

I tried panadol........................ NOTHING

I tried a herbal mix........................NOTHING

As a last resort I got every plastic toy, teething ring and threw them all in the freezer.  Success!!!!!!!!!!!!  The teething rings helped while he was awake, he was going crazy for them!  The problem was he couldnt take them to bed with him, he would end up saturated and wouldnt fall asleep with out his dummy.  That's when it hit me.............  Put his dummies in the freezer too!

Well he is asleep now and went down without a fight and on the first attempt for the first time in 2days!  Im just hoping he will sleep for longer than 45 mins.  If not I have another frozen dummy ready for a swap when he wakes up.

Update for teething troubles
I bought one of those new tommee tipee fruit feeders for about $6 and put an ice cube it in............  Loves it!!!  soothes his little gums and gives him some fluids at the same time.  I cant praise this little invention enough!

teething.
i used bonjela, and that worked for me, but also inbetween, i also put teething rings etc in the freezer. It's a great idea isn't it. Hope you get some sleep soon, and the freezer things work wonders for you.

Try Some of These
Hi.  I feel for you.  You could try Brauer Teething liquid, it does work.  I minute bit of Vegimite on the gum works for some strange reason.  You should also try the Gum gel called Difflam.  I gave up on all the other teething gels and I found this one to be the best.  Hope some of these ideas work for you.  Please let me know.

Brauer was the herbal medicine I refered to.  I use their colic medicine and it is awsome so I thought Id try the teething one.  Made absolutely no difference.

You must try the Difflam Gel though.  Sounds gross, but even a wet flannel put into the freezer to chew on helps as it is really cold and textured but wont do the gums any damage.

Teething rings are a sucess!!

My daughter don't use a soother so I can't try that option, but that sounds great. You know there are soothers now that you can put in the freezer instead of the original ones that you're using now(unless you do have the ones that are allowed in the freezer) they have some sort of gel in them that the teething rings got and so they say it works great for babies that are teething. I would try that out!!

But yes.. the teething rings are sucess!!! My daughter uses them all the time because some times orajel just don't cut it!!

Do you know what type the dummies are?  My son will only take the big bobble ended ones.  I cant believe the amount of dribble coming out of such a small thing!  Its running like a tap!
