Head lice

toejoe by toejoe Walking(December 2006) (rank 500+)

Hi to all the mothers out there who have used tea tree oil.

I have two kids twins, and have had my daughter come home with them all the time because she has thick hair.  I just wan to let you all know that when you use tea tree

oil try and put some lavenda oil in as well as this take the smell of the tea tree oil away a bit and really keeps the nits and lice away.

I swear by this as I spray my daughters hair every second day when she goes to school and have not had any in her hair.  And smell nicer then just the tea tree oil.

Just some friendly advice it has to be diluted in water with the tea tree oil and only every second day.

Re: Head lice

Great advice Jodie, I also found this works!

I also have to insist that my girls have their hair tied up before school....normally a plait much to one daughters protests, but I have found it does limit the reinfestation chances.

Thanks, Miriam

Re: Head lice

I have 4 children, and 3 r girls with thick long hair.  Plus myself, we just had them and i am really mad because i go through my kids hair and myself all the time, we seem to get rid of them and then they come back, i feel like shaving all our heads, but i wont, i will definately try this tea tree and lavender oil, hopefully it will stay away, cross my fingers, thanks heaps karen. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

headlice
I have six children, the boys are easy because they like the shaved look. When I lived in Woy woy I had no problem with headlice because the school checked the children. But in the Liverpool area they don't. I have tried everything and spent a futune. But now I use thick conditioner every second day and comb it though on the girls and it is working great. It  doesn't matter how clean you keep your children at some time they will come in contact with headlice and their is a nastiness that comes with it that can scare a child so more people should except that it is not dirty but a part of life. I keep them out of my children's hair by doing their hair regular but some people don't!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome news
Thank you.  E tolerates me spraying on the tea tree - we do it three times a week on average.  But it is the smell we both object to, esp when afterwards it gets on her hands if she plays with her hair.  I do have some lavender, so I really must get around to doing this.
Peace

tea tree oil and lavender
is also a good combination, but i've found vinegar to be the best, but the spray afterwards sounds like a great idea.
