Making Christmas about family, not money... |

Although Christmas is supposed to be about joy and celebration, many of us don't enjoy it as much as we should, mainly because; a) the credit card debt skyrockets and b) you put so much thought into the gifts you give and it's a let down when some "spoiled"
kid just doesn't seem remotely interested in what you gave them!
Well a few Christmases ago we had a family meeting about what we all wanted out of Christmas day. We (well the adults at least) reached a concensus that it should simply be about sharing the day and being thankful for eachother (and eating like piggies). So now we only by for immediate family, being partners and own children. We all get together for Christmas lunch, with everyone bringing a dish. There is no stress, no fights between kids over who got what, and no huge credit card bill looming overhead. It also teaches the kids that Christmas isn't all about getting. It's about love and family.
