Different Things To Do With Playdough

keri by keri Talking(December 2006) (rank 500+)

PLAY DOUGH

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 CUPS FLOUR
  • 4 TABLESPOONS CREAM OF TARTAR
  • 2 TABLESPOONS COOKING OIL
  • 1 CUP SALT
  • FOOD COLOURING
  • 2 CUPS OF WATER

MIX THE ABOVE INGREDIENTS IN A SAUCEPAN, STIR OVER MEDIUM HEAT FOR 3 - 5

MINUTES, UNTIL THE MIXTURE STARTS TO PULL AWAY FROM THE SIDES.  (It will pull away from the sides really well andit gets hard to stir)

I know that there is a none cooking method however i have found that this one lastes longer especially if you keep it in a air tight container.

textured dough

Add things like sand to the dough the children will love to feel the texture of it.

perfumed dough

You can add different sents like peppermint, vanilla to the dough this will enhance your childs senses, they will love it as dough somtimes dosen't smell so nice.

cookie cutters

Your children will love to cut out the different shapes from the cookie cutters and it gives you an opportunity to take to them about the differnet shapes that they are using.

kitchen utensils

your children will love to use the potato masher and spoons to manipulate the dough, they will make pretend food.

plastic toy animals

The children will love to make different types of caves and homes for the animals to live in.

glitter dough

Add glitter to the dough, just to make it different.

Playdough is great for your children's fine motor development, skills they use for writing later in life.

Highly Recommend

Although for children who are prone to eating the dough it would best to admit the food colouring (particulalry if sensitive to food colouring) and perfume, maybe even the sand and glitter??

what age
This is good for most ages, toddlers love it but you just have to watch them as they also love to eat it as well.
