Prevent Accidents At Home 83 Rules

1. list a number of emergency numbers above your telephone for all to read in case of emergency an dteach your child about them numbers.

POISONS

2.lock all poisons when not in use in a place high.

3.install child proff locks on cupboards.

4.get rid of

any medecines or poisons u no longer use .

ELECTRICITY

5. use elctrical safety switches

6. unplug any plliences you are not using .

7.dont use lectrical floor heaters with todlers they are dangerous and they can fall on them when running around and urn themselves.

8.use plug in covers

9.dont use electric blankets with todlers or any child with problems such as bed wetting or still in nappies and if they sleep with you and you have one big no no.

FINGER JAMMING

10. be aware when slamming doors

11.know where your children are at all times to prevents fingers slamming

12.use wedges or latches to keep doors from slamming shut

13. be aware that strollers and cots could be dangerous when closing .

14. teach your older children about checking doors before closing .

DROWNING

15.if the phone rings ,take the children with you a wet floor is beter than a dead child

16.be sure all nappy buckets have a lid and are stored high.

17. spas an outdoor pools need to be secured with doors and fences.

18.empty all small pools after using

19.cover pot holes

20. after any rain check your yard for any containers who ahve been filled with water and empty them.

21. learn resusitation just in case.

BURNS

22.make sure your microwave is away from your kids

23.only boil enough water for your cofee or any use and get rid of the rest.

24. have a blanket or fire extingisher close by in case of a fire

25. use stove guards and make sure stoves are attached to teh floor or wall.

26. keep irons away safely hight during colling period

27.keep matches and lighters away from kids

28.dont use petrol or alchohol whn starting barbecues.

29.always dress kids in low fire risk clothing

30.control bathroom water to 50 c

31.fill bath with cold watre first then hot then cold again to cool th taps.

32. install fire alarms in each floor of the house and in each room this will give you a change to get out faster.

33.have a fire escape plan.

34. teach the folowing to your kids:" STOP, DROP ,ROLL," and " GET DOWN LOW AND GO"

35. install a guard around open fires.

36. dont drink hot drinks with kids on your lap. and watch where u put your hot drinks.

37.use place mats instead of cloths.

38. if your child is burnt coll the burn or scalp in running water for up to 20 minuts or until help comes.

39. remove all clothing  as the heat the clothing holds can cause more damage

40. keep the child warm with a clean blanket.do not use oil,ice,butter,soy sauce,or ointments.

CHOCKING

41.make them sit when eating

42.grate all carrotsand apples for younger children

43.remove bones

44.never feed a distressed kid

45. buy toys that are safe an dhave no small pieces.

46.if your child does choke place then face down in your lap with tehir head lower than their chest and give them 4 shap blows between the sholder blades.

FALLS

47. use gate barriers

48.steps and satirs need good lighting ,be sure kids can reach light switches for use during the night.

49. use corner protector for tables,and other sharp furniture.

50.avoid polished floors use rugs for a good grip.

51. use full  body harness in stroller

52.be carful as baby can roll off cahnging tables.

53.using bunk beds is really only safe for older kids from ages 9 +

54.if possible do not put beds next to windows children like to jump on their beds an d they could fal theought the window.

TOYS

55. store toys in a safe place wheer tehy could be played with in full view of parent.

56. check conditon of toys at least once a mth for kids over 2 as they ten to brake  and get damages dispose all damaged toys.

57. tell your older children to play with their small parts toys or older toys when the young ones are asleep and to pack them away once they are awake for beter safety.

use open boxes or even nappie boxes to place toys in less dangerous for little fingers.

DOGS

58. keep all kids away from pets while the animal eats .when feeeding your dog touch him 3 times during feeding near the mouth so it may be acostomed to be interupted during feeds just in case .

59. ask your friends to keep their pets away from your kids while visiting .

60. always stay within grabbing diatance between your child and the pet.

61. train your dog simple comands and to obey them .such as sit,stay,and come .

OUTSIDE

62. FENCE ALL PLAY AREAS.

63.cut all branches that are to long specially if they are in eye level.

64. remove tripping items.

65. trampolines are dangerous if you ahve one make sure only one child at a time uses it.

66. check barbecues are satble.

67. gargen sheeds should always be locked.

68.insist all kids wear shoes when outside.

69. be sure if kids are outside that you ahve them stand in full view when diving away.

IF ONA  FARM

70.keep kids away from tractors and life stock

71. keep chemicals safely away

72.store guns in a locked area

73.keep all dams fenced off and water barels.

74. helmets must be used at all times during horse riding or bike riding.

75. dress ur kids in bright colours so they are easy to spot.

76. tell all farm workes that your children are on the farm so they to can be careful while working with machines.

VISITS TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY

77.watch them when visiting your family and friends

78. check for celing fans

79. check if their medecines are in reach of your kids if so tell them to move them.

80.ask for they dog to be shut away.

81.be sure to check for any hand bags left on the ground as kids can find dangerus items in them so move the bags away.

82. always have doors locked specially if your kids can reach them as they can get out .

83.ALWAYS WATCH YOUR KIDS .
