What to do with those unwanted chrissy presents

monyq83 by monyq83 Young Parent(December 2006) (rank 10th)

Im sure all of us have gotten something for xmas one year that we didnt like. Wether it be because we dont like it, dont like the person its from, or weve already got one, most of us have at some stage gotten a useless present.

Instead of throwing

it out, or selling it on ebay like i know alot of people do, why not give it to charity? There are so many people out there who dont get presents at all, let alone something they dont like.

And as for those noisy presents we wish the grandparents never gave the kids, why not say, why thank you, why dont we leave them at your place so the kids have something to play with next time we come visit? (clever little me didnt think of this until we got home with 3 very annoying toys i wish i had of left behind lol)

I hope this helps to keep some sanity in some other peoples lives out there in Minti Land.

Hi Mony,

We have been donating to charity for many years now. We also have a clean out twice a year to donate as well as its amazing what a person can accumulate that you never use.

As for noisy presents, I just love that idea!!!

Cheers Kellz

Noisy Toys
I was very annoyed with many of these types of toys but found that my pediatrician's office was the perfect place to "forget" these toys.

Noisy toys.

I always 'accidentally' leave the noisy toys at my inlaws (lol). Giving unused & unwanted toys to charity is a fantastic idea. I have always done it with clothes, but have never thought of toys. I'm going to start cleaning out the toy box right away!!!

unwanted presents.
you are absolutely spot on with your advise, as i do what you say, we have just recently had our children donate their unwanted toys and clothing to the children that were effected by the fires in tasmania. And it made me feel so proud of them.

That is fantastic. I am in Tasmania and I know people that were affected by the bushfires. It was really upsetting. Devistating that it happened at all let alone so close to christmas. I am so proud of you and your children

unwanted presents.
thanx madmel, our school  got behind the kids and encouraged them to dig deep and think of those families, and the whole svhool got a reward of icy poles after the collection. The little girl who came up with the idea got her pic in our paper. Makes you so proud when you know you can help in some way.

unwanted presents.
that is soooooo sweet! there were alot of nasty fires here in sydney and the blue mountains as well, so since the boys dont have much room for their toys now that the family have spoiled them rotten, i think i will go thru them all and get them to choose what they no longer want so that we can donate some.

Charity
Great idea...and the noisy toys, definitely will do this..it takes the pressure of and stress out of Christmas knowing that you can give unwanted gifts to charity and noisy toys at the grandparents!!! phew, that's better usually I keep all this stuff for ages and forget where all the stuff came from and it all just gets chucked away in road side junk collections...advice worked for me
