Roadtest - TONKA Toughest Mighty Dumptruck

Anonymous Author (December 2006)
TONKA - TOUGHEST MIGHTY DUMP TRUCK
PRICE  - AROUND AU$70, US$30
ACCESSORIES -
HARD HAT, MINI RAKE, SHOVEL AND DIRT SIEVE
AGE: 3+

Hey all, yet another toy to roadtest.

When Koens dad (darren) was young, he had
a Tonka truck which was much loved and handed down to his nephew who adored playing with it and since then, was given away, so this is kind of proof that they can last a long time, Darrens in fact, is about 19 years old and still going...

ABOUT THE TOY..
There is a wide range of Tonka trucks out now in a lot of sizes and for all age groups!  they can be used in the house and out in the yard. Being made of quality steel with a plastic coated tip truck handle this is the the ideal toy truck for boys (and girls if they are into trucks too).
The Tonka toughest is an award winning authentic looking dumptruck toy backed up with a lifetime guarantee! The first Tonka mighty dump truck was introduced in 1964, where most families demanded the truck after the war. Tonka say that a toy should be durable and give a child many hours of fun, which personally i believe, yet again this is a toy that marks the age of 3 years and above, my son is one and a half and still knows what to do with it.

overall i think that this is a great toy for its price as it can last a lifetime (backed by lifetime guarantee since 1989) if taken care of. This is one toy your child could hand down to his/her children!
Five thumbs up!!

Re: Roadtest - TONKA Toughest Mighty Dumptruck/ a warning

I MUST ALSO PUT OUT A WARNING ABOUT THE METAL TONKA TRUCKS THAT DUMP!

My husband is in his 40's now but when he was younger he got his hand caught between the truck body and the dump part as it was up. His mother freaked and it took several men neighbors to help release his hand.

I was told this story by my MIL when we bought our first Tanka and it was metal and she said looked exactly like the one she had bought for her sons. She said it was one of the most terrifying things that had happened because his hand was turning blue and swelling and could not be removed.

I tiook the story to heart but could not find any info on hands getting stuck on this particular model and my husband and I thought we would watch and monitor our son's play with it. Even though it was an icky experiance my husband still had fond memories of the truck as a child.

Low and behold while playing in the sandbox our oldest son caught his hand in the same place while we were there. When the boy realized he was caught he yelled and it only took seconds to get his hand out but it did give him an abrasion.

After that we said NO more to metal Tonkas and went for the smaller palstic ones wich I guess were just as much fun.

Of course my MIL said I told you so.

This was just our experiance with the big yellow metal Tonka dump truck. We still love Tonka things.

Just a warning from us.

And the cool helmet you get! Tonka is such a good, sturdy long lasting truck that will handle all your toddler and older child will give it!

Tonka Toy
I am going to end up bankrupt over my buying habits with this soon to be Grandson of mine...

I love Tonka Toys they are so hardy and last for ever. I still have Luke's tonka truck that I brought him when he was only 1. A little discoloured by nothing a coat of paint wouldn't fix...

Thanks again for the road test matey!
