Stress less for children

lexiw by lexiw Young Parent(December 2006) (rank 10th)

My eldest daughter has been through alot of stress in her eleven years. She had alot of fears and spent almost every night in tears because of being afraid to go to sleep. We sought professional help for her and it was the best thing that we ever did. My

daughter got the best counsellor. By best counsellor I mean she gained marias trust and befriened her so that Maria felt comfortable talking to her and being left alone with her. This took time and patience all of which the counsellor had plenty of she helped Maria more than any one could dream of.

I feel that one of the greatest things she did was suggest these to amazing books.

1) Starbright - Meditations for children by Maureen Garth

and

2) Moonbeam - A book of meditations for children by Maureen Garth.

I sat and did these meditations with my daughter and I believe that they are the most beautiful meditation techniques I have ever done. I was amazed at the difference in Maria. I was already a believer in meditation as I do it myself but the adult meditation I did didn't catch Marias interest and I did try to make them simple but she still didn't like meditation until these books. So I would recommend these books to anyone who thinks their child/children could do with some quiet time, some healing time. It worked for us I hope it works for you.

Sounds out there but its great
I know a lot of my friends thought that I was a little out there when I suggested meditation for my son years ago when he was doing some strange but typical things. I had to end up explaining it in terms where my friends were not intimidated by the thought. We all like our personal space and most of us don't manage to find it. This is the same with children. They need to be able to access it an understand how to. Once a child learns to relax and tend to some 'me' time, they become less anxious. Great advice Lexi~!~
