Teenage acne.

lexiw by lexiw Talking Back(January 2007) (rank 14th)

I have recently given a fourteen year old girl A cleanser and toner. All natural products and these are all she needs at the moment to help her clear up her face. Her mother is not interested in any of these things and has said to me that it is all just commercialism and none of it works anyway. So this means that she is letting her child go through her high school years being picked on and left out of things that she would otherwise be a part of. Teenagers can be extremely cruel about this subject.

My uncle had acne cistitis which is really horrible for the person having to experience it not just for the physical side of it but because of the emotional side. My uncle was teased so much, had so many people be very nasty and abuse him that he ended up leaving school because he could no longer take the abuse. I watched him become more and more unhappy ( he is only six years older we grew up more like brother and sister than uncle and neice ). I swore I would never let my children go through this pain and sufferring.

As soon as my daughter showed signs of acne I got her to use a natural cleanser and toner. They are not cheap but the brand I use is really great and lasts for ever. It is all natural and it has cleared her face up no problems. ( I sell this product so if you want more info just let me know ).

So when I noticed that this young girl was not happy at school and having to deal with basically the same issues that my uncle did. I acted and gave her the cleanser and toner for christmas with instructions on how to use it and I received a thank you text message from her saying that she loved the present. This made me very happy as now I know that there is one less child out there who is going to leave scholl because of the nasty things teenagers can do to other teenagers.

It dosn't take much to help your child be happy and I think that too many parents ignore how hard it can be for teenagers to get through every day life. I have heard people say that there must be something wrong at home for a teenager to commit suicide but I know of two cases in my very small home town where it had nothing to do with thier families it was other teenagers that were the cause. So please don't dismiss the things your teenager says just because it is not what you would get upset about because it can be just those things that are really upsetting your child.

My uncle has contemplated suicide far too many times. I really hope this helps someone, anyone.

Well Written

Well written Lexi.

It 's not often that someone does something nice for a teenager who is not their own child. I truely hope the mother of this young girl will come to her senses and see how much of an impact a small gift of facial clensers has made.

Dont let the ratings of this post get you down, you know in your heart you have done something good. If i could continuosly click on 5 stars i would, lol.

Keep Smiling

Whi in there righ mind would vote this article down. It isnot opinionated and is oly stating the austhors feelings and expereinces.

Good on you lexi just becasue the mother can't see how upset her daughter is doesn't mean she shouldn't be helped. Obviously she appreciated it. I hope the products make a huge difference so she can rub commercialism in her mothers face!!!

PS the mother coudn't have got on this site could she????

Great advice

Yes possibly I did send her the link thinking that she might get some help here. I have been thinking about whether or not she would do this and I doubt it she and I can tell each other anything she dosn't often like what I have to say but she does tell me to my face when she has a problem so I don't really think it would be her I will ask her and see if she did though just to be sure.

Hey every one

Thank you so much for all your support I am starting to get a big head with all these lovely comments. I am hoping that this is just a glitch if it isn't then I oviously I upset someone and they felt they couldn't tell me about it.

It dosn't matter I know how you all feel and that is what matters if somebody is upset with me then they need to grow up and talk to me about it.

Love you all

I had acne
Till last year and I'm thirty now, I actually still have it but it's only an occasional pimple, and Black heads on my nose. I didn't have acne as a teenager. I had a lot of stress over the past 6 and a half years and thats when my face broke out during that time frame. Now the Stress has gone and my face is clear and funky fresh again. God i hate Pimples they Hurt. so your advice worked for me.

What a nice caring thing to do, I am sure that the girl you gave it to appreciates it.  I am sure you didn't write this lovely advice for votes n e ways, but for the record that person is such a tosser for voting you down - what a miserable dork they must be.

God help...

the skulker who voted this down in such a cruel, callous and cowardly manner.  I think they had better hope the Admin finds them and reverses the damage done before the members find out who they are!

If I knew how to vote anon, I'd go and vote a few hundred times just to neutralize this disaster.  I thought that each computer could only vote once anon before it was tracable?  Could someone have dumped a voting virus into the system???  Or has someone made a really big booboo?

acne
you always try and better your own child's life don't you. It just come's natural. You don't want them to be teased bullied etc for anything, and you try in the best way you can to guide them in the right direction for anything. great advice.

It can be serious for them....
It gets me so frustrated when a parent is 'not interested' in a product that may help their child because they think its commercialism. Ya know something, so what if it is.....it just may work though. Let the child try it out. Be grateful that another has taken interest in your child and more importantly, let the child make the choice, after all it is their skin and their days at school being teased.....

I know of a boy when I was a teen who took his life over skin issues. He had the biggest, nastiest pimples I had ever seen and was teased so bad over it. He went to school one day and hung himself in the boys toilets. This was a boy that was tormented so bad by others that he walked around as if he was made of stone and he wasn't.

His sister blamed her mum and dad for so long. Maria blamed them because he would beg them to help him get rid of his pimples and they wouldn't as they said it was just a stage....he'd grow out of it and so on....I'm not saying they were the reason why there child killed himself or anything but if a child is desperate and begging you, ya gotta listen to the pleas and seriously.

Proactiv!

I know there is something out there called "Proactiv" it works great and everyone swears by it.

I am sorry that her mother will not let her use anything. Its not right, I know what it's like to get teased, I still get alot of acne and it drives me nuts.. But when I got pregnant my face cleared up and well now its back to the same thing again :(

What is in the stuff that you sell? I would love to know more about it and talk to my husband for sure to see if I'm able to get any.

similar
I have done a similar deed in the past, however I got slammed by the step parent and the products were taken from the 13 year old????I am glad yours were well received.I might add that the teenager was heart broken, after a few more issues went and lived with her natural Mum.The Dad in the piece was booty blind and actually lost custody of both his kids.Ironically he is now an alcoholic living alone. The young girl has grown into a beautiful confident young women.

Good on you
All through our lives we face 'self' issues.  Unfortunately it doesnt stop when we 'grow-up' (anyone with knowledge of when this is actually meant to occur please let me know).  And confidence is something that is knocked out so easily.  Good on you for being able to support her in this practical way.  I hope that she uses it and comes back for more!!!
Peace
