What is or isn't parenting advice

Anonymous Author (January 2007)
I have noticed that some members have had comments on there advice that say this isn't parenting advice you should write it somewhere else and then others will write similar advice and they dont get the greef from members.  Why is that? Define parenting advice? Some may say that organizing
advice and cleaning advice has nother to do with parenting but I think is does.  Personally if I dont have an organized house hold I go crazy, and this affects my family very much.  I find it harder to get out of the house on time and i forget importnat things like diapers (because I didn't check to see if the diaper bag was low.  I become flustered and angry and snappy.  Now I know for a fact that ever parent/care giver cleans.  Cleaning is a big part of your everyday life and your childs.  You try to teach your child how to clean when they are little.  If you dont clean then it affects your childs health and when they are older it affects the social life because who wants to bring there friends over to an unclean house.  Any advice on cleaning is great becasue anything that makes my cleaning quicker is better becuase the sonner I get it done the sooner I get to spend time with my family.  So the next time you think that something isn't parenting advice you might want to consider what other might think is advice or not.  There is no need to make someone feel like what they say isn't important.

exactly
Yep I agree totally too. What one person finds as advice, another doesnt. I think questions on cleaning ect help break up the sometimes same old, same old times on the site. I also think some comments are unnecessary and can cause a bit of a cat fight which goes against the whole pricipal of having a site like minti.

parenting advice

Here is Rachelcook's definition of parenting advice http://rachelcook.minti.com/blog/59764/Definition-of-Parenting-Advice-in-Minti/

Minti is pretty young still. When I joined, I could post a comment on just about everything on the "activity" list because there were less than 2000 members then. Because of the explosive growth, some things have been defined and redefined. I think one of the things that has been redefined is the definition of "parenting advice". Some advice a while back that is about cleaning the house, or toy product reviews have been reported as not "parenting advice"... but since the Rachel's definition, people have relaxed a little bit.

So the clear definition being so recent, we have to forgive older comments from people.

Minti is really evolving for the better, the more and more member joins.

I agree
I agree.  If someone doesn't like or doesn't think that the advice someone else wrote was actually advice then they can keep it to themselves.  Weather it's about parenting, cleaning, cooking, or illness, etc...if it helps to better someone's life it's worth writing about!!  And no should ever say something negative about some body else's advice.  Just vote & move on, but do NOT leave a nasty comment.
