The Heat and Skin Problems |
 |

I found when my two boys were young that the heat during the summer months would aggravate, if not cause, skin problems with my children. The one's my boys suffered were heat rash and eczema but I'm sure there are other conditions that will benefit from the tips below.
Two tips that helped save the day for me and make my children more comfortable where:
- Accessible Water Play with Pinetarsol added. I had a small esky filled with water that the boys could hop in and out as they pleased (under supervision of course). In the water I added Pinetarsol. Pinetarsol can be purchased from the Chemist and the bottle will give the dose needed in the water. Pinetarsol is extremely soothing on irritated skin and helps elliminate the itch.
- Soap substitute called Sorbylene Cream. Soap is an irritant to skin conditions and I found a good soap substitute was Sorbylene Cream. It leaves a fine oily coating on your child's skin that helps the skin to stay moist. Half the problem is caused from skin drying out from the heat which helps aggravate skin conditions. Again Sorbylene Cream is readily availabe at most Chemists.
It goes without saying that these tips are also beneficial to Mum and Dad to if they find they are suffering with skin problems.
(I do apologise in advance if I have misspelt the two products above).
Good luck and I do hope this helps ease any skin problems your children may suffer due to the heat (or for any other reason).
