Choking

Marlena by Marlena Young Parent(January 2007) (rank 48th)
There are so many things your child can choke on so it is important to know a few things about it and to watch them when they are eating and playing.  Here are somethings you should know about how to keep your child from choking.
  • Make sure your
child is at the table when they are eating or at lest sitting down.  If they are running around while they eat there is a better chance of them choking.
  • Cut up foods like hot dogs, grapes and raw veggies.
  • If they are eating popcorn and they are younger feed them and remove the husk from the popped corn.
  • If they are eating to startle them, this could cause them to jump.
  • Some foods to watch out for are sticky candy, peanut butter, seeds and nuts.
Not only can your child choke at meal times they can also choke at playtime.  There is many advice out there on Minti you can look up about child safety and there toys.  Here are just some toys to watch out for.
  • Marbles
  • batteries (the little round ones)
  • coins
  • Wheels from cars
  • Lids to markers
  • balls

Elastic Bands
I heard of a kid who wrapped one around his ankle and his mother didn't know and put him to bed the next morning his foot was blue and it had to be removed.  It is so scary what your children can get into.

Right now we don't have a dinner table until tomorrow I hope. I have him at the coffee table and he is to stay put but it has been hard because he is 2.  How many 2 year olds stay still.  I really cant wait for my table so we can eat as a family and also to keep my living room floor clean.
