Teething

Anonymous Author (January 2007)

I have found the following to be useful to my daughter when she was teething. I do hope this will help other new mums and dad's out there also.

  • Bonjela. It numbs the gums and it stops them grizzling for awhile
  • Teething
rings. The coldness will help numb the gums also and if they have a bit of a tempurature, it'll cool them down also.
  • Face washer in cold water with ice rapt in it. Let them suck on the wet face washer for awhile. They will get the coldness from the ice.

Good luck. Hope this works for you, which ever one you try.

Re: Teething

wrapping the ise inside the washer is a good idea as the washer goes warm pretty quicly otherwise

Works.. Another way too!

My daughter is actually cutting her first tooth now and she's 10.5 months old!!! I know the orajel isn't working, as soon as I put it on she screams bloody murder, or so it seems to me.. She does LOVE the frozen rings though just naughing on them and letting the cold get to her gums!
I also noticed that every time I clean her gums with the little face cloth she loves to suck on it, I guess its the water she's trying to get at, but I don't know!

Another thing that works and I have been using it for 3 days now is a teething soother, it has bumps on the nipple and they can chew on it! My daughter has NEVER taken a soother before and always spat it out and lately since she's been teething she's been taking this one! Try it, it may help! I know it helps my daughter because she falls asleep and when she wakes up shes happier than before!

Never heard of the bumping one. Sounds good. If it stops her from crying etc, then it's a good thing. Well done for finding something else that works for your baby.

Teething
Teething is such a miserable time for them.
I used to use the Bonjela too, I still do on things like mouth ulcers.
And the teething rings that you keep in the fridge to cool down were great

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, everyone's different in what they use as different things work on their children.
