Picky eaters

Marlena by Marlena Young Parent(January 2007) (rank 22nd)
My son is a picky eater and there are somethings that I have found works when it comes time to eating.
  • My son loves to dip, so I try to give his meals with some kind of dip.  He now loves raw veggies because he can dip it
    in the ranch dressing.
  • I sometimes let him help me out when I cook and I find that he wants to try the end result.
  • I lay out food threw out the day so that if he isn't gonna eat at meal times at least he is eating threw the day.  He still has to sit at the table at meal times as a family even if he doesn't really eat much, but at least I know he isn't hungry .
  • I don't make him a big plate of food when he eats because I think if there is lots he thinks he has to eat it all.  If he eats what is on his plate then he can have more.
  • Try smoothies with fruit and veggies.
  • Try to make it fun, like the cut out there sandwich with cookie cutters, it only takes a minute.
  • Put sauces on top of there food like cheese on there veggies.
And always remember that they have tiny tummies and they don't need a lot of food.  And Relax about it your child is more then likely just fine and normal. They will not go hungry, they know when they have to eat and they will.

Picky eaters

Thank you, I am having heaps of trouble with master 1 at the moment he won't eat  anything I give him.  Even if I cut if up small.  He is still happy to eat pureed food but only when it suits him.  He is 17 months and I thought he would be feeding himself by now but if I let him do that he just chucks it all on the floor and non of if goes in his mouth.   So I might just try giving him something to dip things into and see how we go.

Cheers
