So you have decided to take the little one out. Remember, always be prepared!!!!! These are a few things I have found to be helpful especially with very small babies or babies that spit up a lot.
1. Bring extra of EVERYTHING. Diapers, wipes, clothes (long sleeve and shortsleeve),
formula, bottles, burp cloths, and stuff for you too, snacks etc. You never know how long you will be gone when it comes to baby.
2. Have an emergency diaper bag in the car. This is a great concept. We have a very small bag with just a few essentials in it for emergencies. Just a few extra diapers, wipes, a blanket and one change of clothes. That way you could make it til you drove home.
3. Have a clean car. I know this is hard with a new baby especially, but it isn't fun to try and get baby in and out of the car with a whole bunch of trash and junk in the way.
4. Never let your gas get too low. This is a no brainer but especially with baby, who wants to run out of gas on the side of the road with a screaming child? Not me.
5. Keep your car as safe as possible, including the car seat. I know it isn't always possible to keep baby in the middle of the back set, but the back seat is the place baby should ALWAYS be. Airbags can kill children. And keep up to date on recalled carseats so you are doing everything to make the ride safe for the baby. Also make sure your car has decent tires, oil changes, brakes, the works.
Good luck taking baby out, you can't be prepared for everything but with a little planning you can anticipate not having some problems!!!!
