Going out with baby

rockclimbr4400 by rockclimbr4400 Talking(January 2007) (rank 306th)

So you have decided to take the little one out. Remember, always be prepared!!!!! These are a few things I have found to be helpful especially with very small babies or babies that spit up a lot.

1. Bring extra of EVERYTHING. Diapers, wipes, clothes (long sleeve and shortsleeve),

formula, bottles, burp cloths, and stuff for you too, snacks etc. You never know how long you will be gone when it comes to baby.

2. Have an emergency diaper bag in the car. This is a great concept. We have a very small bag with just a few essentials in it for emergencies. Just a few extra diapers, wipes, a blanket and one change of clothes. That way you could make it til you drove home.

3. Have a clean car. I know this is hard with a new baby especially, but it isn't fun to try and get baby in and out of the car with a whole bunch of trash and junk in the way.

4. Never let your gas get too low. This is a no brainer but especially with baby, who wants to run out of gas on the side of the road with a screaming child? Not me.

5. Keep your car as safe as possible, including the car seat. I know it isn't always possible to keep baby in the middle of the back set, but the back seat is the place baby should ALWAYS be. Airbags can kill children. And keep up to date on recalled carseats so you are doing everything to make the ride safe for the baby. Also make sure your car has decent tires, oil changes, brakes, the works.

Good luck taking baby out, you can't be prepared for everything but with a little planning you can anticipate not having some problems!!!!

good tips
I just wanted to add for the mom to try and relax! The first few outings may be stressful, but as long as you have everything you need you'll be fine. If your baby gets cranky, find a quiet spot and sit down. The more you get stressed out, the more the outing will be unenjoyable.

Wipes
absolute essential for kids of all ages from babies to grandads!!!!! Whenever we went anywhere no matter how clean the child looked when we left home by the time I got to whatever I was going they looked grubby. How do they do that?

Great advice
Great advice.. I always bring toys when we go into the car, sometimes it keeps them occupied. I heard about keeping an extra diaper bag in the car. I was watching the news the other night and heard about it, its a great idea and I will be defiently do it just incase I forget mine in the house and not know it until we're away from home!!
Snacks are a must, I agree.. I have those Gerber Graduates Finger Foods and they work great, expecially if your baby likes them!! (i know mine does)

Going out with baby

Ya know something, even the 'no brainers' of advice are overlooked and forgotten about and its because we tend to be a little over confident with them things compared with others.

Great advice matey

thank you for sharing

Cheers
