TV in small doses

madmadmummy by madmadmummy Talking(January 2007) (rank 410th)
I'm sure that everyone has heard the old "don't let tv raise your kids". But i have found, just like everything, that TV in small doses benefits both me and my daughter.

For example, in the morning, I let her watch an hour or two of the
kids programs that are on. While she is doing this, I am busy cleaning up, making beds, showering, getting dressed etc, while not yelling at her to stop following me around whinging, which she tends to do in the mornings because she is tired.

And also, just for those couple of hours a day she learns alot from TV. She can name the colours of the Wiggles (she's only two) and picks up heaps from Play School.

So TV is not such a bad thing. If you use it for the right reasons.

I agree too
I often put the TV on when Arianna is clambering for my attention and I can't seem to get anything done.  She's finally happy when she can watch Franklin or Little Bear.

I agree!! There is also something that you can buy for your kids.. It's called V.Smile you can even get it for a baby and it teachs' them soo many things.. So yes TV in small dose's will not do anything to your child! I watch TV alot but that's just who I am, my daughter will not even look at it, she will turn it off on me LOL!! Good advice :)

I agree
TV can also be very educational. Chase learnt to count to 10 from a TV show that Jaidan watched daily. As long as its supervised and the right programs there is nothing wrong with TV

TV in Small doses

I have to say  that I agree. I also find that especially in the morning it's great to let my daughter watch a little TV while I get all the daily things started. I like to listen in on what she's watching and later suprise her by singing a song or something that she saw on TV that morning. It always makes her smile. "Too much of anything is never good for you" and that goes for TV too. So as long as you use it wisely it can be a great addition to your daily routine!

Thanks for the advice!

Evy
