I have been told that I am an over protective parent. But what do you classify as over protective? I believe that these children were given to you so you must protect them with your life. Reasons why peolpe think I'm over protective.
* I don't let them out
of my sight( accidents can happen or there are strange people out there that may pinch your kids, anything can happen)
* Make them all wear bubbles and floaties while swimming( I can't keep my eye on everyone at the same time so Its better to be safe then sorry)
* Won't let them cross the road by themselves( I live in a one-way street and we still have cars driving the wrong way down the street. Some motorists are idiots and having them cross the road is a risk I am not willing to take)
* Kids in the kitchen when cooking is a big NO NO( Curiositiy is what killed the cat. Little fingers can easily get burned, pots can be pulled off the stove)
* Locking my house at night and hiding the keys( kids can sneak out if they get up early enough in the morning, this does happen, my friend lost her little boy cause he snuck out and got in his neighbours pool. It can happen)
*Food( I hate sharing food. You don't know where there food was, how old it was, how it was prepared, if that person is clean, What was in or on it. You don't know if they have or been in contact with any illnesses. Food allergies. etc. Thats why I pack a very big lunch for my family every day. I know they'll never go hungry and what they have is ok to eat)
*I've never had a baby sitter( trusting someone with your kids is a big issue. You always see the movies where the babysitter invites partners over or smacks your kids or just doesn't look after them. Plus imagine finding out your kid was sexually assaulted by the babysitter)
It's up to you if you think I'm over protective but I believe I'm doing the best I can with my kids and its the love for them that drives me this way. I bet most of you are a bit over protective too.
