rainy day activities for toddlers

franni by franni Crawling(February 2007) (rank 376th)
here are some activities you can do with you lovely toddler, i found that work for me,
i hope they work for you as well.
  • Visit the library, and get them to pick out there very own book to read before going to bed.
  • let them help you do the washing, let them learn between colours and whites.and then put it in the machine.my daughter loves helping me do this.
  • get her to help with the house work, lillian just walks around with a damp cloth, its so cute when she trys to clean a cubaord door.
  • if the rain stops outside, get there gumboots on and go explore all the puddles.
  • never throw out boxes, decorate them and make cubby houses, lillian is ocupied for hours playing in her made up cubby.
  • make your own play dough.
  • get a packet of lollies and get her to sort out the different colous or shapes.
  • dig out the old baby toys, they will be keen to play with them since its been a while.
  • put on some music that has beat and dance.
  • wrap up a few of her favourite toys then get her to unwrap them.
  • make a photo album together.
  • play musical bumps, when the music stops, sit down as quickly as possible, she will soon learn to copy you. i love doing this one.
  • play follow the leader, get her to copy everythink you do, like patting your tummy, sit down stand up run, anythink silly.
  • sit on the floor oposite each other and play catch with a ball.
  • make a cake together.
  • do face painting get her to paint your face as well, lol im not sure about this one she will most like put the pain brush in my mouth.
  • go camping in side make up a tent with blankets, and pillows.
  • have a doll teas party picnic.
  • play shops, buy a fake cash register, so then the learn the art of money as well as having fun.
