Babies with wind

Anonymous Author (February 2007)

When my daughter had wind as a child, i would rub her tummy and her back, just above her bottom. It helped  her to pass wind, and made her feel comfortable once again.

I would give her cooled down boiled water also to settle her

stomach. I would also lay her on her back, with heat beads lightly on her tummy, so the heat would calm her tummy down.

Also, i would lay her down on our bed, with the electric blanket on and that would help ease her pain. If i couldn't comfort her, or didn't have success at passing the wind for her, I would do her a nice warm bath, with the smell of lavender essential oil aroming around to relax her, and the movement of the water would help pass the wind.

This may not work for every child, so hopefully this will help someone, and if anyone's got anymore ideas, please add them.

GREAT ADVICE

Thankyou. I agree with you there, that we can't have too many articles on wind as there's alot of people out there with alot of great ideas, and different ideas work differently on children, and if one doesn't work on your child, keep trying all these great ideas until one of them does work for your child.

with you on the water....

Hi - I actually just put this on another comment to different advice about when to give water....how about that!

Cool boiled water is great for breaking up wind and far more effective and better for them than infacol or any of those other products (unless of course they have reflux and it's prescribed by a doctor, I dont take away from that!).  A bath and lavendar are great, too.  I did the same thing.

wind

Just to add another note, if you sit them up straight also and rub their lower back, or tummy this way, it also helps..........
