Everybody Dance Now

tracey by tracey Young Parent(June 2006) (rank 7th)
I always tend to forget how much my kids love to dance. I'm with them all the time, doing my best to entertain them, keeping them busy, creative, and active but I seem to forget the music. My husband comes home from work and turns on a cd and within minutes
my girls are dancing around the living room. He'll usually join them (he's always game to jump around to good tunes) which they LOVE. I think it's great for kids to see their parents have fun, laugh, dance, and act silly. It's such fun for them, it's great excercise, and teaches them how to express themselves through movement. I think I could learn a thing or two from my little dancing queens.

Happy, happy
We just realized that Ethan is a little dancing fiend. He has always liked music but now that he can walk and run, he is out of control.  We have really tried to give him lots of opportunities to enjoy music and now dancing is one of his favorite ways to express it.

Love dance
When I running out of idea to entertain little ones, I just put on music...there we go...dancing...I could even do it while doing houseworks. Keep them amused while I'm busy.

Nothing like the wiggles to perk up the afternoon.I too love to go dancing and never thought how simple it is to just turn on the radio and have free as you like dance off with my kids.W henever the kids would come home from an access visit they would know all these old songs and dance moves and i found out that daddy had them dancing to "abba" so i say let your hair down, turn up the volume and go for it.

This is so funny because we have started calling my son "Dancing Queen."  His dad would prefer dancing king but that isn't the Abba song.

Music

Yes, it's good to be silly! My husband and I are silly people and so we are very silly with Matthew. It encourages imagination, so we should all definitely do it. And music, well... everything about music is great for children. I love to sing (alone of course) and when I was pregnant, I sang a lot. I sang along with the Broadway show CDs I have, and often times sang while driving. When Matthew was only a couple of weeks old and wouldn't sleep one day, I sang to him. I sang Old McDonald with a silly voice and he cried louder! Then I sang Twinkle Little Star with a normal voice and he quited down. It was amazing!

Matthew is just now experimenting with dancing. I can't wait to be silly and dance and just run around with the music with him.
