Do You Have A Bored Tween? Here's a Suggestion

MelodyS by MelodyS Talking(February 2007) (rank 207th)
After receiving my digital DSLR camera as a gift from my fantastic-wonderful-awesome-wow husband, I passed my point and shoot digital camera to my twelve year old son.  Since, I have not heard the whine "Mom, I am soooooo bored."  He is way too busy snapping goofy photos of his younger brothers, and he is so into self portraits, and we have photos of water running from the sink faucet.  I swear, he learned more about that camera in one day than I did in one year.  Who knew it had a self timer?  And all those modes?

And a completely unexpected side effect is we have a common interest.  Who would have thunk.   He and I are participating in this project and enjoying tabblo and loving jpg, and he expects his own flickr account.  Next, I feel certain, will be his own photoblog.

What digital photography blogs, sites, magazines or whatever are you loving?

'Recycle' Old Cameras
E has my old camera that I had as a child as a 'toy' camera, although it can still take film and I am hoping that this summer we will fill it up and just play a bit.
Great advice,
Peace

Do what I did.  Buy yourself a nicer new camera and give the kids the older one.

Done this for a while...

This is something I have been doing for a while. Before digital cameras mind you I did it with the 'old fashion' camera that took a film. Its great and encourages children to use their imagination and capture more than just what the eye can see.

My daughter, now 21, has a great eye for photography. She can see the most hidden things with one and creates a wonderful shot to keep.

Cheers
