take pride in yourself

madmadmummy by madmadmummy Talking(February 2007) (rank 408th)
As parents we are busy. Sometimes too busy. Sometimes so busy that when I do get to stop and take a look in the mirror, I scare myself.

So lately I have been trying to set aside time to look after the way I look - to wash and
straighten my hair, shave my legs, even put on the odd spot of makeup every now and again. These kind of things don't take hours, but they can make you feel so much better. I know that when I feel like I look good I am in a better mood, which in turn, benefits my daughter.

So get out the foundation and the hairbrush. And the razor and the tweezers. And if you're feeling ambitious maybe a little bit of eyeliner and mascara. You'll be feeling more human again in no time.

Keep your head up
This is so important, iron your shirt/blouse wear something 'special' even just to pop to the shops. I do that sometimes, No-one else knows that I am only out of the house for a few errands, i could have been to a job interview or a party for all they know!!!  It is great to slightly role play sometimes too - boosts the confidence
Peace

I really feel like I have lost myself in a way, Thanks for your advice , I'll have to take some time out for me

Very True
My teenage daughter nags me to death too.
Also one of my jobs I have to wear smart clothes and make up.
Actually it is great because I probably wouldn't bother otherwise, so this makes sure I do take care
My make up also gives me confidence cos no one can see what the emotions are underneath

So True
As soon as I get up I have a shower do my hair and throw on some makeup, I always put my jewellery on, just to make me feel better.  However today I was rushing out to pick my son up from school, got the other two kids in the car and my 3 yr old said mummy where are your shoes!!!  Or sometimes I'll be driving along and check myself in the mirror and am completely horrified lol

Murphy's Law.

and if I can just add... it's when we are at our untidiest, and our scruffiest, that we'll bump into the people we know, or that's when the friends and family stop by the house without notice. Go figure!
