Eye Protection in the Sun - Cool sunglasses

sunshineoz15 by sunshineoz15 Talking(February 2007) (rank 385th)

We all seem to have caught on to the fact that we need to keep our childrens' skin protected from the sun.

Australian schools all include hats as a compulsory pary of the uniform.

When are we going to start taking the same care with their eyes?

My 19 month old son has his own pair of sunglasses and he wears them whenever we go outside. He's a cool little dude!!

I would love to start a campaign to get schools to bring sunglasses into the uniform code. Older Australians are finally realising the dangers of sun damage to eyes as many of them start to suffer the effects of going without sunglasses in their younger years.

Don't let this happen to our kids.

I totally agree.  At my son's school sunglasses are now compolsory as part of the Sun Smart programme.  The Cancer Council now recommends we SLIP, SLOP, SLAP, SEEK(shade) & SLIDE (on sunnies).  I bought my son Solcare sunglasses through the school (www.solcare.com.au).  They are labelled with his name and they came with a free hard case.  The school has a no hat, no sunnies, no play policy which I think is fabulous!

Re: Eye Protection in the Sun - Cool sunglasses

Hi Sunshine

We are an Australian company taking sunglasses to schools and childcares.  We want to offer our children the best protection under the sun.  Lets encourage a life-long habit of eye & skin protection by making sunglasses available to our children.

We have a range of glasses in school colours with a area to write your child's name.

Lets slide in the habit of protecting your childs eyes.

We love sunnies
We wear our sunnies all the time, even here in the UK.  The glare is still bad enough, same sun, same danger!  E is kinda a Miami chick when she wears hers, it is so cute.  But she looks after them well and it pleased to have them.  great article
Peace

I agree

I got my son a pair of sunglasses when he was little and now aged 6 he doesn't leave to house without them. He even takes them to school.

My mother is a teacher and she said something about schools bringing in sunglasses. Can't remember exactly what but they are talking about it.
